December 31, 2008 – Maricopa, AZ: Orbitel customers awoke this morning to a scroll message appearing on a number of cable channels. The message indicates a programming dispute between MTV Networks, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Cable companies. The message has nothing to do with Orbitel. Orbitel customers are not affected by the dispute between these companies and Orbitel customers will not lose any of these services. The message has appeared on the following popular services: Spike, Comedy Central, MTV, CMT, Nickelodeon, VH1, The N, Nick Toons, VH1 Classic, CMT Pure Country, MTV2 and Noggin. “We have called MTV Networks and our national programming cooperative. We have expressed our anger in the strongest of terms” said Keith Kirkman, President of Orbitel. “MTV Networks has elected to put this message out to every cable customer who receives their programming off their national feeds. They are being flooded with calls by angry cable operators and customers who are not affected by the dispute.” It is not known when the messages will be removed by MTV Networks. Orbitel apologizes to its customers for the inconvenience but wants to assure its customers that there will be no interruption in the carriage of these channels.
