Wednesday, Arpril 29, 2009 Maricopa, AZ:
KAET, Orbitel Channels 8, 906 & 908, will make its final conversion to an all digital transmission in the early morning hours of Thursday April 30, 2009.
Shortly after midnight tonight the station will cease transmission in an analog format and then move their digital transmission over to their permanent digital transmitter frequency.
Orbitel currently has all equipment installed and is ready to receive the full digital transmission from KAET as well as other Phoenix broadcasters. Orbitel personnel will arrive early tomorrow morning and make the necessary changes to receive the new digital signal once the KAET engineers have completed their work.
Channels 8, 906 and 908 will likely be off the air on the Orbitel system between the hours of 12am and 6am but all KAET programming should be back on the air early tomorrow morning.
The remaining Phoenix broadcasters are expected to make their transition to all digital signals on June 12, 2009. KAET received approval from the Federal Communications Commission to transition prior to June 12.
