Orbitel Scholarship Recipients Work to Achieve Dreams
Orbitel Communications presented $500 scholarships to Maricopa High School seniors Justine Pangilinan and Jayden Warren for their achievements in the areas of leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, and academics, at the recent high school awards ceremony. Both will attend colleges in Arizona.
“We are proud to have sponsored two scholarships this year to two very outstanding young people,” Keith Kirkman, President and CEO of Orbitel Communication, said. “It is our hope that we may continue to offer these each year. Our future lies in the next generation and we are happy to help these winners as they work to achieve their goals.” The recipients’ plaques were inscribed with the Sue Atchley Ebaugh quotation “Within Our Dreams and Aspirations We Find Our Opportunities.”
Justine Pangilinan excelled academically with a 3.8 GPA. She chose to take a rigorous course load, excelling in eight Advanced Placement courses, 10 honors classes as well as French. She was active in many clubs including holding the office of president for the Asian Pacific Association. She volunteered for community causes including working with the mentally impaired and elderly at the Arizona Training Center. As the first in her family to attend college, she said she is proud to have been accepted to the University of Arizona, where her dream is to earn her degree as a registered nurse.
Jayden Warren has been a natural leader serving as National Honor Society Vice President and the editor of the yearbook. She was involved in Key Club, The Catholic Youth Organization, and Student Council. As an athlete she played soccer and softball. Academically she earned 4.0 as well as an exceeding score on the math section of the AIMS test. Having been accepted to Arizona State University, she plans to study Kinesiology. She said her dreams are to help her family through this challenging time.
Both young women will graduate May 26th from Maricopa High School. Orbitel Communications wishes all the graduates a successful future, and congratulates their families and teachers.
