6.07.10 Orbitel features full coverage of FIFA World Cup

Team USA stands ready to compete in South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.

Orbitel Communications will air all 64 soccer matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup live from nine cities across South Africa June 11th to July 11th. Coverage begins Friday, June 11th, on ESPN (Orbitel 27/827HD) with the tournament’s opening match at 6:30am (MST) from the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, featuring host country South Africa vs. Mexico.

The matches will air live on Orbitel standard definition and high definition channels, so Orbitel customers with Expanded service can view all the matches, and customers with the Orbitel HD package can watch all the matches plus 2010 FIFA World Cup studio programs, including pre-match, halftime and post-match segments in HD. ESPN will carry 44 matches, with the remainder on ESPN2 (Orbitel 28/828HD) and ABC (Orbitel 15/815HD).

The ABC coverage begins with the U.S. Men’s National Team’s tournament opener vs. England on Saturday, June 12th at 11 a.m. (MST). Team USA will play in two other matches during the first round: Slovenia vs. USA on June 18th at 6:30am on ESPN and USA vs. Algeria on June 23rd at 6:30am on ESPN. The tournament concludes on ABC with the title match Sunday, July 11th at 10:30 a.m. (MST) from the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.
